Never self diagnose. If you have a growth on your skin that concerns you, see your doctor.

A variety of different types of skin growths can appear on the skin and be quite annoying. Some lumps and bumps start small and grow over time.

Sometimes there is a raised brown bump that appears similar to growths we saw on our grandparents, and other times acne may flare up well past adolescence. There also may be times that you notice bumps that mark the texture of the skin on your face.

These lumps and bumps are usually benign skin growths with a variety of treatment options. Only your physician can examine and determine proper treatment. Below is a short list of some of these growths.

REMEMBER: You may have multiple types of bumps and some that may not be listed here:

  • Small, hard, white bumps (milia)
  • Enlarged oil glands (sebaceous hyperplasia)
  • Moles (nevi)
  • Barnacles” (seborrheic keratoses)
  • Red bumps (cherry angioma)
  • Pimples (acne vulgaris)
